The National Unity platform has finally come out on the accusations of beating up journalist during the burial that happened down in Lwengo on the 18th May 2024.
Journalists in the greater Masaka came out to the public claiming that they were beaten and assaulted by NUP security persons guarding the president of the party and some foot soldiers according to them.
The National Unity Platform has come out with an open letter up on this incident as they saw a couple of statement concerning this incident that they as a team were not aware of.
The party led by the spoke’s person approached the group of journalists that were allover news claiming that they were beaten, plus the accused party that they say beat them up along with a few attendees of the event.
The party says when they spoke to the bystanders the onlookers, they say these people were something very different from what was being said in the news, the accused to people who are being said that they beat up the journalists
More was written in the letter claiming that the party did not know of any of these claims and they are not true but accusations that are being based on the political motives and that the party believes a lot in freedom of media.
