After the recent abduction of former presidential candidate Dr Kizza Besigye and his friend Obeid Lutale in Kenya, it has become a tag of war for their lawyers in the court martial of Uganda.
The two are said to have been arrested in Kenya by Ugandan forces as claimed by Kenyan officials for possession of illegal fire arms.
Security operatives claim that they arrested these two suspects on suspension of wanting to over throw the current government and they were arrested with 2 pistols.
Besigye and Lutale have been brought back to court martial today for another hearing.
The court session has also been a battle of exchanging words between Besigye’s lawyer kiiza Eron.
After a long exchanged the court also refused the said to be leading counsel of this case Martha Karua to get involved in the case as she did not have the licence to practice of defend anyone in the country because she was in the country for a retreat in Entebbe.
The court martial has adjourned proceedings of Dr Kizza Besigye and Obeid Lutale’s case to December 10, 2024.
This request was made by the defence lawyers so the adjournment could help to allow time to process the temporary practicing license for lead lawyer Martha Karua.
This was after a closed-door meeting between the lawyers and Besigye which lasted at least 30 minutes.
