The Minister of State for Energy and Mineral Development (Minerals Hon. Phiona Nyamutoro has been doing a lot of her duty of late since she was given this ministry.
Nyamutoro was seen at mines in Mubende stopping the eviction of people by the land lord and the RDC who does not even belong to the area but was carrying out eviction that was termed illegal by the Honorable minister.
She also promised these people that they will and they must be paid before being evicted by either the people or the government, no one is allowed to evict anybody without being paid.
This time around the honorable minister visited Kisoro region where he wanted to supervise what was going on and being done by a certain mining company in this region.
Apparently, the National Cement Co. a subsidiary of devki group was carrying out illegal mining and the place was protected by private security which was given orders to shoot at any one who tried to interrupt their illegal activities.
So as soon as the Hon. Minister reached the premises, the guards called their boss or bosses they were still given the same orders at least according to the Nyamutoro’s security who were able to disarm these guards before they could fire at anyone.
The four guard were apprehended and arrested and the minister ordered his security to find out who are the boses of these mines what they are doing and why they are carrying out illegal mining in this region.
