A list of arrested National Unity Platform members who are missing and also wrongfully arrested and put behind bars for over three years now, some of them have been seen coming in and out of prison being brought to court martial.
For all these past years these people have been denied bail in courts of law for various reasons as given by the court martial. A few of them are being released to be specific four but all have been freed on bail.
The president of the National Unity Platform Robert Kyagulanyi has come out to talk about the same issue where one of the most recent released and goes by the name Ronald Mayega .
Kyangulanyi wrote on his media platform lamenting how the police has made it a habit to go on arresting and torturing its supporters and prosecuting them in their martial courts.
“This is Mayega Ronald, one of our comrades being tried by the Military Court alongside Olivia Lutaaya and others. He is one of the four who were released on bail, and have been persistently approached by state operatives asking them to ‘cooperate with the state’ and implicate themselves as having committed the crimes they’re charged with.
On 11th June, he did not return home and his family reported to us about his disappearance. They also reported a case of Disappearance with the Police. For over a week, our Human Rights team alongside his family have been looking for him everywhere including police stations.
This morning, he resurfaced bearing gruesome wounds. He says that he was abducted by heavily armed men on Tuesday last week. According to his account, they took him to an unknown place where they interrogated him about the ongoing case at the military court, asking him why he has refused to cooperate with them. They asked him why he has repeatedly refused to implicate me and other NUP leaders as having sent them to commit crimes. They tasked him to admit that he committed the offences at the military court and apologize to Gen. Museveni. They promised that if he remains adamant, he will face dire consequences, and if he accepts, he will be given monetary favors. “ he tweeted.
Kyagulanyi also commented on the sad fact that these security agencies have also got a tendency of sodomising these comrades’ as a way of torturing them to accept crimes they did not committee.
Very sadly, he says that two of his captors sodomized him and promised to kill him if he spoke about it (A medical doctor has examined him and confirmed that he was indeed sexually abused)! They would later subject him to untold torture as seen in these pictures. His arms bear clear marks of having been on handcuffs.” As he concluded his statement.
